Rioja is Glasgow’s leading Spanish restaurant and cocktail bar. 

We work with them to offer day to day marketing consultancy, social media management, and creative content from words to photography.

One of our highlights from last year was their Michelin tasting event.

THE BRIEF: Tasked with sharing the guest chef story for their Michelin Tasting event with Michelin chef Modesto Fabregat and Rioja’s head chef, Luis, we captured the dishes through creative photography, social media and pr.

Eight unforgettable courses were created for their customers to enjoy and we have helped them share their vision with their target audience from the initial idea to the kitchen to plate. Using a mixture of pr and marketing, we achieved press coverage across Scotland and ensured a sell event for the four-day guest Michelin chef celebration.

Visit West End

We love working Visit West End as they host imaginative events throughout the year. One of the highlights from 2017 was the outdoor cinema screenings of all of the Scottish director’ Bill Forsyth’s  films in the beautiful backdrop of the Botanic Gardens. 

The screening events were the latest in the series of programming that connects the community with the vibrant businesses and people of Glasgow.  Organised by the Byres Road & Lanes Business Improvement District, the outdoor cinema screenings celebrated independent culture and provided a romantic night under the stars or an alternative night out with your family or friends.

Glasgow Gift Card

From dining out, distillery tours, or cocktails, there’s a new way to gift your city with the launch of the first-ever citywide Glasgow Gift Card – a prepaid visa that can be spent at your favourite restaurants, shops and leading attractions.

Created through tourism business collaboration and supported by Scottish Enterprise and the Glasgow Restaurant Association, restaurateur Ryan James served up the new Glasgow gift cards at The Clydeside Distillery to celebrate the launch.

Accepted in over seventy businesses, just in time for Christmas, the Glasgow-wide gift card aims to put the spotlight on leisure and hospitality, drive destination footfall and help tourists discover authentic local experiences.

Glasgow Distillery

Glasgow Distillery is the cities first single malt distillery in Glasgow since 1902 and the original pioneers of Scotland’s new wave of single malt distilleries.

Celebrate MOBO

The Project

Celebrate MOBO was an event to celebrate young creatives in the music, digital and fashion industries which took place in Glasgow at the Barras Art and Design (BAaD) with queen of the MOBOs, Kanya King MBE. Moir Media organised the event from the concept through to arranging speakers to website management and public relations.

Designed to bring together hundreds of young people and music industry figures by the creator of the MOBO’s Kanya King MBE and funded by Scottish Enterprise, Celebrate MOBO’s aim was to take the passion and excitement surrounding the MOBO Awards and deliver a legacy for emerging Scottish talent.

Moir Media Event Marketing Objectives and Aims

  • To develop an extensive programme of cultural, music and business events, workshops and Q&As in the lead up to MOBO creating excitement
  • To develop a marcomms plan that connects with the target audience (18 – 25) and encourages participation
  • To engage with the target audience and to nurture talent, encourage creativity and innovation
  • To showcase urban culture, music development and celebration in all forms; from songwriting to promoting, to reviewing – podcasts, blogs, PR to self-promotion and more
  • Identify and include underground music networks, influencers, music groups and a mix promoters/bookers/DJ/lecturers/media and of course graduates and undergraduates, bringing a fresh collaborative approach

Event Strategy

With a limited budget, low profile of the MOBO across the city and a six week lead up to the event, Moir Media knew that the key to the success of this event was effective integrated marketing and PR to raise profile, brand awareness and gather momentum amongst affiliates and the designated target audience.

Will this in mind, the strategy that was created was three pronged:

  1. Engage with key influencers: Online Journalists / Bloggers / Music Sites / Creative Community and gather creative talent in Scotland
  2. Create a talking point that engages with urban and creative culture bringing together the event themes.
  3. Provide an exciting event programme that inspires and leaves a legacy for emerging talent

The timescale to pull this together was six weeks. It was very intensive but the results were astonishing and the event aims were exceeded.

Celebrate MOBO offered host partners the opportunity to brand, endorse existing and create a new event which supported industry and benefitted individuals from the brand values of MOBO. In addition, as well as providing opportunities for community and industry engagement, the programme added a good level of buzz and excitement in the lead up to the MOBO Awards, driving additional PR and ticket sales. Moir Media pulled together an exciting, innovative and creative programme of speakers and interviews which attracted audiences from creative industries, academia and technology sectors.

What did we do?

We helped them drive awareness of the restaurant; day to day marketing; created interesting events with a partnership with a speciality Japanese whisky Nikka and produced a brand identity across their social platforms with styled photography and social media content. Makar Gin

The multi award-winning Makar Original Gin is the first gin to be distilled in the city of Glasgow.

Embracing the characteristics of the Dear Green place, Makar is a bold, vibrant, juniper-led gin that derives its name from the ancient Scots word for ‘the maker’ or craftsman.

Working with the distillery to push awareness of the gin, we created and implemented a pr strategy, curated content, sourced new partnerships and produced promotional brand photography; from drink styling to collaboration and events.

Byres Road Book Festival

Byres Road Book Festival

The Byres Road Book Festival returned bigger and better for 2017 with an exciting four-day programme seeing 29 top authors including Malachy Tallack, McIlvanney Prize 2017 winner Chris Brookmyre, Douglas Skelton, and Gail Honeyman bringing fiction, fantasy, history and superheroes to Glasgow’s Byres Road over the September weekend (September 22nd to September 25th).

We had the pleasure of helping them coordinate a PR stratgey and plan to maximise awareness of the festival.

28 exciting events, drop-in sessions and fun activities are planned over four days, with organisers hoping to attract more than 1000 visitors to the festival.

We achieved national coverage for Byres Road Book Festival ensuring that the event was well-received across print and radio.

Gamba is known as Glasgow’s best seafood restaurant serving classic sustainable seafood with chef patron Derek Marshall at the helm. Situated on West George St, Gamba has been operating since 1998.

Moir Media was approached by Gamba to help them raise the profile of their restaurant, the events they do and fabulous seafood cooking, chef patron Derek Marshall offers.
